Madame Alexander Dolls

Offered here is a wonderful Madame Alexander Coquette with jointed knees and elbows, dressed as “MAME” from the popular movie of the same name. This doll is from the 2006 Williamsburg Convention and has the Madame Alexander tag bearing this identification sewn into the dragon coat. This doll has jet black hair and blue painted eyes and red lips. She has a tiny black beauty mark on her left cheek. She is dressed in a scandalously short gold brocade sheath with a long full length black velvet coat. The coat has two large dragons embroidered in gold and red on the coat and it is trimmed in gold braid and lined in gold satin. She has gold ball earrings, a black chiffon hair bow and dangling rhinestone and gold ornament. I have added a necklace with two large Asian character charms on it, to add to her attire. On her wrists, she has two wide gold cuff bracelets, one on each arm. Please check the photos carefully, as the long sleeves tend to obscure these wonderful accessories. She is multi-jointed, with joints at the elbows and knees and has a twist waist which all make for fun posing. In the movie, Mame, the lead actress was Rosalind Russell who played an extremely wealthy socialite intent on living life to the fullest. She was known to wear extremely outlandish and provocative outfits and lived in an ultra modern mansion complete with a sweeping spiral staircase from which she make her grand entrance to her parties and soirees. This doll exhibits her wonderful flair for the exotic and provocative. She would make a lovely gift or addition to your collection. This doll is from my personal collection. She has been kept in a darkened doll room in my SMOKE FREE and PET FREE home. She will come to you with the doll stand shown so that she will be ready for display on arrival. Featured here is a vintage Madame Alexander 24 inch Binnie Winnie Walker doll; she is dressed in a lovely navy blue check cotton dress, with ruffled rick rack cotton slip, cotton panties and a white velvet lined coat with Navy grosgrain ribbon accents. She wears a wonderful vintage straw bonnet, of tightly woven molded straw, accented with a navy blue grosgrain ribbon and ties. Tiny vintage fabric flowers are on the top. This doll wears a beautiful vintage necklace of graduated pearls that closes with a very old metal clasp; it holds nicely and is the perfect size for her. She carries a miniature Williamsburg China plate ornament, with its original tag and satin ribbon hang loop; the plate is dated 2006 and is from Shields Tavern at Williamsburg and features wonderful fish, a tree and tavern on the plate. Its colors compliment her outfit beautifully. I have added replacement white patent looking ankle strap shoes with tiny bows on the toes. NOTE: In response to a question about her hair and request for photos of the back of her head under the hat, I have added a couple photos. Her wig is thick and in its original set, not messy or missing — a beautiful dark golden blonde in wonderful curls. This doll is a walker, i. When you move her legs her head turns to the side and then back to the front. Her walker mechanism works well. She has wonderful large green blue eyes, all her eyes lashes, painted brown 2-stroke brows, strawberry blonde hair, deep red rosebud painted lips and rosy cheeks. NOTE: The doll stand is not included in this listing; it is very heavy metal and only used for taking photos. These dolls can stand well leaning against a wall, couch, etc. Because they have large flat feet and can balance quite well. This doll has been part of my personal collection, kept in a darkened doll room in a SMOKE FREE and PET FREE home. She shows no sign of sun fading. She has no odor and is very clean; a flaw of note is that her one leg, the left leg, is slightly lighter in color than the right leg. Her left arm and hand are also slightly lighter in color than her right but do not show under her outfit. This charming Kate Greenaway doll was the centerpiece doll for the 2006 MADC Williamsburg convention Lets Talk Dolls event. Very hard to find, in her pretty pale pink dress with white accent trim and white straw hat she looks like she just stepped out of a Kate Greenaway illustration. Limited edition of 75 dolls.
