Features are vivid and complete. Eyes are sparkling, true blue. Being from 1957 or 1958, Cissy is made of pre-colored vinyl, a hard plastic that gives her a beautiful, creamy glow. Her arms are flexible vinyl that match extremely well. Her legs bend and hold positions. No splits, no scratches, no repairs, no repaint, no odors. In her ears Cissy wears original rhinestone earrings. Her wig is smooth and full. The ribbon is replaced but as the same age as Cissy. Lashes are long, full, and lush. Lids are not scratched. She has a glowing complexion and complete features. Eyes are sparkling, true blue. Late 1956 through 1957 was the period of time during which the Alexander company transitioned from painted hard plastic (thermoset) to pre-colored rigid vinyl thermoplastic. Cissy is typical of the era. Her head is the new hard plastic, her torso the old formula. The necks of these dolls often do not fit into the head opening as well as we’d like. She is otherwise excellent. Her flexible vinyl arms are a good match to the other plastics she is composed of. No splits, no odors. Her legs hold positions. Note one wrist shows evidence of her having worn a bracelet. Stains can be removed from flexible vinyl with patience. Her wig is smooth and full. Probably once in a chignon, it is now free in back. There is some wig glue residue the ear tops and back of neck. Possible she started life in one of the wigs with curls around the neck rather than the up-swept style she now wears. It still has the spanner bar, the original cobblers’ string, and all the stitching is whole. Lashes are long, full, and straight. Lids are not scratched. The Rarest Maggie On The Planet? Well, I’m not sure of that, but I can tell you this Maggie is as rare as she is stunning! Before acquiring this 14 beauty, a few years prior I was able to bring home the same costumed doll, with a Margaret face. Not being able to locate ANY literature or photographs of her, I consulted with two of the most well-respected Madame Alexander collectors/historians. They had never seen this gorgeous costume either, but from their knowledge & expertise, it was thought that this may have been a limited “special edition, ” perhaps made for a department store, and could possibly have been another version of Cinderella in her ball gown! We may never know for certain, but what we DO know is that she is one VERY rare doll! Her original tagged chiffon blush colored gown has a bodice similar to the Rosamund Bridesmaid, with small ruffles accentuating a sweetheart neckline. Loosely gathered sleeves drape her shoulders. The skirt of the gown is very full, and there are three rows of ruffles at the hemline. There are a couple of very small minor snags & pin holes in the chiffon. Any “fraying” at the hemline, etc. I promise you none of these minor items are at all noticeable because of the billowy fullness of the gown… This gown is in outstanding condition considering its 67 years! Closure is at the back with two square snaps. Underneath is an attached lightweight taffeta underskirt and replaced panties; and although there was no additional slip originally, I’ve added a pretty lace-trimmed crinoline to add some extra fullness. She wears her original perfect satin shoes, and I added a small vintage faux-pearl necklace & faux pearl bracelet. Both of the vintage floral bouquets (in her hair & at the waist of her gown) have been “spruced up” and look lovely. THIS IS ONE BREATHTAKING DOLL. Maggie is absolutely exquisite. Her features are gorgeous and her blush has been refreshed. Her delicate platinum floss hair is arranged in a lovely updo; a very narrow “slit” above her right leg hole (even though perfectly stable,) has been professionally repaired. For your consideration: Madame Alexander’s Cissy, fashion doll of the 1950′s. Cissy was the epitome of doll Haute Couture. Of all the MD creations, Cissy has remained, since the 50′s, the doll most treasured, the most loved, and the most sought after. This lovely Cissy is in excellent condition, there are no splits or cracks in the plastic. She is really in exceptional condition, very beautiful. Her eyes open and close easily. There is no lovelier face created for a doll. Please note: upon inspecting enlarged photos of Cissy, it appears that there was a freshening of her original painted lashes (in photos you see the new painted lashes over the faded old ones). This is a fabulous 1950′s Madame Alexander-kins Doll. She is BKW Kins which means she is a bent knee walker. Very pretty vintage Madame Alexander Cissy doll. From the top of her head to the tips of her toes, she measures approximately 20 inches. She is outfitted in a beautiful yellow satin gown, accessorized with a pair of earrings and a necklace. Underneath there is a matching yellow half slip and stockings. She is carrying a nosegay with tulle surrounding the flowers. She has red hair and blue eyes, which open and close easily. Sometimes her eyes look green, depending on the light! Cissy has been stored in a sealed display case case for the past few decades. She was tacked down to the backing board with stitches through her clothing in several places. I pulled the backing off of the case but did not remove the stitches, in case the new owner wants to display her that way. To the extent I was able to examine her without removing clothing, she appears to be in nice condition. I was able to read the word ALEXANDER on the back of her head. The necklace was held down to her neck with a spot of glue, which has darkened. Her arms were slightly pulled out of their sockets (no doubt due to the position they were in for so many years) but I was able to easily fit them back in. Custom made case measures approximately 26 1/2″ high, 20 1/2″ wide, and 4 deep, and has a hanging wire on the back. There is damage to portions of the trim on the bottom edges of case. I do have a few more photos available. The custom made display case is included AT NO VALUE. Again, all sales final.
