This is an 18 Madame Alexander Sonja Henie doll from the 1930s She’s made of composition and comes wearing her original tagged red velvet Olympic gold outfit, which is complete with dress, undies, skates and hair ribbon The skates are missing their blades and show wear and there are some sequins missing from her dress but overall her outfit is in very nice condition with no major issues like rips, tears, etc. The elastic is stretched on the undies and they’ve been pinned to stay up Sonja’s composition is in excellent condition with only a few small craze lines and no deep cracks, lifting or peeling; it appears to have been professionally sealed at some point to prevent crazing Sonja’s eyes are clear, her stringing is tight, and she’s not missing any eyelashes or hair A beautiful doll and the stand is included for display. EXTREMELY RARE 15-16 MME Alexander ICE SKATING Sonja Henie Doll, in presentation suitcase. It is not MINT, but she is NRFB. I did find a couple of issues, , first being that one of the blades on her skate has broken off and LUCKILY I found it in the box. 2, noticing the skis, I only see 1 boot as the blades are crossed. I dont know if there are suppose to be 2 boots or not. The dress does not have that crispness or luster in my opinion. Crazing is very minimal. Very rare item, I had trouble finding information on her under Sonja Henie, found out Alexander named her Skating Doll because it was after Ms. Henies contract expired prior to 1942. Suitcase in very good condition, no major damage other than age and storage, handle and clasps work fine. Thanks for looking, Sharon. This is a Sonja Henie Vintage Doll comes complete with the original clothing, hair bow, hair pins and skates. Her black velveteen dress has gold colored sequins and matching hair bow. Her ice skates have missing blades and the gold trim is peeling off the boots. Her hair still has her hair pins in and there is light crazing on the doll in certain spots. Her slip is torn underneath her dress. Underpants are in fair condition. She has one eye lash that appears to be colored differently. Her eyes operate as they should and are clear. Her arms, legs and neck are secure. Some minor marks on legs. This was my Mother’s doll from when she was a child in the 1930′s. The doll sat in a baby cradle for many years with a clear plastic bag around it. She stands approximately 18 tall. Please see pictures as they serve as the condition and description. Vintage 1930s 13 Swivel Waist Composition Alexander Sonja Henie Doll in Tagged Feather Costume. Here is a sweet Nineteen-thirties Madame Alexander Sonja Henie doll made in the image of the outstanding athlete. This composition doll is in very nice condition – having a tagged costume, all her fingers, light blushing and a lovely human hair wig. Sonja Henie was a Norwegian born. Three-time Olympic Champion (1928, 1932, 1936). In Ladies’ Singles, a ten-time World Champion. (19271936) and a six-time European Champion. Henie won more Olympic and World titles than any other ladies’ figure skater. At the height of her acting career, she was one of the highest-paid stars in Hollywood. And starred in a series of box-office hits. If you want to be amazed, watch a YouTube video of Sonja doing spins on the ice – it seems like she can spin forever! She is 13 tall, all composition and marked Wendy Ann on her back. She is strung moderately tight so she can hold a pose but does better on a stand. She has working, clear, brown sleep eyes with thick lashes, nice painted lower lashes, single stroke eyebrows, light grey eye shadow and lightly blushed cheeks and body. She is jointed at the neck, shoulders, waist and hips. She is wearing a tagged grey sateen skating dress trimmed in replaced real feathers, matching grey/blue sateen panties and original MA ice skates. Good, lightly played with condition. Has clear, working sleep eyes with all brush lashes. Nicely painted facial features. Open mouth with six upper teeth. Missing a few dots of lip paint. Wig is thick, human hair, with barrettes and possibly the original set. No broken or repaired fingers. Skin tone is even and clean. Has some paint wear at all joints. Light crazing, no chips or lifting. Most of the lines in her face are hairs. But if you really magnify the pics you can see the lighter lines which are crazing. Has a crack on the side of one eye and one coming down from the same eye. Some cracks on her upper thighs. Clothing is all in good condition, has working snaps but the feathers were replaced and are shedding BADLY. The tag is present but illegible. Skating pants are more blue color – probably because the skating dress was washed and has faded. Flowers on dress and in hair look original. Very Nice Vintage Madame Alexander SONJA HENIE. 18 All Composition, Very Good Condition. Sonja Henie was a famous Norwegian figure skater, Olympic champion in 1928, 1932 & 1936 & many times World Champion, who went on to be a film star. Alexander created her doll from 1939-42 in a number of outfits. This example is 18, wears an original, tagged outfit of ivory satin with rust red velvet skirt & cap & blue/multi-color braid trim. White skates with their blades intact (they’re thin metal & sometimes break). Blonde human hair wig in its original set & gold metal hairpins. Doll stand & photo of Sonja not included. Her composition is nice, with virtually no crazing/lifting on head or body. Eyes clear, no crazing or starring; full lashes & no chipping of lip paint. Brownish stain on front of her undies-I believe it will wash out. I must mention that there is so. Me fading of the front of her dress which shows up more on the skirt, also giving her face more of an ivory patina (which I find appealing). Her face, stomach, and lower left leg show minor noticeable crazing. She shows no major cracking, or open seams on her torso or limbs, or anywhere. Her hair is beautiful, thick, and in the original style. —She is a beauty from the original family’s owner’s showcase.
