Madame Alexander Dolls

Just in time for the holidays – An extremely rare, early 1950′s, Maggie Margot Ballerina by Madame Alexander. Original tagged and double layered pink tutu w/ gold accents, flowers, & matching satin slippers. She’s wearing a matching floral headpiece. Hair is tied up into her black net snood at her neck. Clear sleep eyes, working perfectly, with beautiful eyelashes. Pretty black ribbon tied around her neck into a bow. Original gold wrist-tag tied to her right wrist! Smoke free home, kept in a box which deteriorated. We believe this was the label that was on her box, but we may have mixed them up. If anyone knows, and can offer assistance, please contact me. I would be grateful. She has a couple tiny specks below her mouth and one on her right cheek. I’m too scared of damaging her to try and remove so I’ll leave that to your discretion. I’m not a doll expert, but other than the couple tiny specks she hasn’t any marks, chips, scuffs, cracks, fading, holes, tears, or anything that I can detect. The doll appears to have never been played with. I’d say she’s in excellent or near mint condition. Margot is an all original 14 Madame Alexander Ballerina from 1951. She is a straight leg walker and has a blonde wig, blue eyes, thick lashes and bright original face color. She wears a pink tulle and satin tutu with rhinestone appliqués on the bodice. In her hair she wears a cluster of original flowers and original hair net. I don’t think her shoes and stockings have ever been removed. She even has her original arm bands, which are so often missing on this doll. The tulle dress is one layer and then there is another layer of tulle attached to the bloomers. The dress is tagged “Madame Alexander” and is crisp and unfaded. No stains on her dress. She is so crisp and mint but let me note a few items: Wig is lifting on the left side of her face. Shoes have darkened at the edges, I imagine from the aging of the glue that holds them together. She has a rub on her left arm right at the socket and a few light marks on her chest right below the neckline of her dress, not visible when dressed. Her eyes open and close smoothly but every so often the left eye sits back further in her head than the right eye when closed. It does not happen every time and has not happened when open. She was only made for 1 year (1961), and was Madame Alexander’s answer to Barbie. She is 9 1/2 tall, made of hard plastic with sleep eyes, perfect rosy cheeks, deep pink lips and a golden blonde upswept hairdo. She is wearing # 920, off-the-shoulder gown of satin the color of French lilacs with the top outlined in sequins, long can-can petticoat, satin panties trimmed with lace, seamed stockings and gold strappy shoes. She has the beautiful triple rhinestone earrings and a rhinestone ring. She is All Original and in Near Mint Condition and comes with her Original hang tag still tied to her wrist. This listing is for a wonderful simply gorgeous early 1950′s MARGOT BALLERINA. She is in a stunning tagged bright blue tutu and she is all original condition. Margot stands 14 tall and there are no cracks, stains, or splits in her hard plastic. Her vibrant facial coloring is totally original with no retouches. Her sparkling blue eyes open and close and she has all her eyelashes. The hair style is in its original set and is topped off with beautiful flowers. The outfit is in excellent condition. I haven’t found any tears in the netting. There is a faint pink mark, maybe from a pen, on her right calf but it is hard to see. I hadn’t even noticed it until taking pictures in bright light. I haven’t found holes in the tights. All together a beautiful doll that will be a standout in your collection! Madame Alexander Blonde Margot in her Silver Lamé Ball Gown, Rhinestones straps! Original blonde Up-Swept Style. Margot #921 can be found on pp. “Cissette, A Complete Guide to the Vintage Alexander Dolls” published in 2007. Margot is jointed at her neck, arms, hips and knees. Her Facial Coloring is just Fabulous! She has full Dark Pink Lips, Vibrant Cheeks, Painted Upper and Lower Lashes with Blue Eye Shadow and Feathered Brows. Her Nails are Painted. The Gown does have a slight slight blemish. I dont think its a stain I think its the lame. Its in the front center please look at the photos. Margots Silver Lamé Gown is fully lined with white Organdy. Her Earrings are her original Rhinestone Clover Leaf not the typical three diamond earrings, but the hard to find Aquamarine in the middle of each setting, which matches her Blue Velvet Floral Brooch attached at her waist. Here for your consideration is a doll called Margot Ballerina although I’ve also seen her referred to as Trina Ballerina. She was produced by the Madame Alexander doll company in the 1950′s. This ballerina has the Maggie face known for her big round eyes and sweet innocent expression. Margot/Trina stands 18 tall. She is a hard plastic doll with a swivel head and is jointed at the shoulders and hips. She is a strung doll and her stringing is nice and tight. Her body is in excellent vintage condition. Her face paint is lovely, with delicately painted brows and lower lashes. She has big blue eyes with full brush lashes, none missing, and her sleep eyes function as they should. She has red lips and lightly blushed cheeks. The floss wig on this doll is just about perfect. Hardly a hair out of place. Her hair is styled in a chignon and held in place with the original black net snood. My best guess is that the hair piece is not original but I’m not positive. The tulle tutu skirt is a deep red with a few white flowers scattered about. Fortunately it is two layers and is very full because there are several areas of shredding and/or holes. It is very fragile. That being said, the deterioration is not very evident when the doll is on display because of the natural folds in the skirt. The bodice is lighter than the skirt with some areas of discoloration. The tag is no longer present. The ballet shoes are also in excellent vintage condition. Nice bright color, and little, if any, wear. There are no odors. Please ask any questions you may have in case I missed something important to you. Thank you for your interest!
