Madame Alexander Dolls

LOOK at that face!! People who see her in my dining room remark HOW PRETTY she is and they are RIGHT. She is a Mdme ALEXANDER’JANIE’ doll, which I believe was the precursor to IDEAL’S Patti Play Pal doll, which was cute but definitly not as PRETTY as Janie. She was made in 1959. AND in remarkable condition considering. This doll is marked on back of neck. See photo: Alexander 36 1959. PLEASE see all the photos to appreciate this stunner! I think this is the Prettiest face on any play pal type doll I have ever seen , much prettier than the Nurse JOANIE version. And she is not to be confused with that same size ALEXANDER JOANIE/Nurse Joanie, this is called JANIE type. She is very clean, has gorgeous rare DARK brown hair that positively sets off those big blue green sleep eyes. An ebayer sent me a photo of HER Janie doll with blonde hair same pretty face. The original dress is similar in color but SHORTER than this one and had a pinafore. No discoloring on body or limbs, extremely minor if any scuffs, she looks marvelous! Arms have been restrung but as usual one arm is a bit looser due to wear inside hardware, but they both stay UP and DOWN when posed. To prevent damage to arm hooks– they are pretty tight but not overly tight stringing. I have noticed one arm being loose is a typical age related issue with these dolls. The rooted hair is full and has some trimming on back–that may have been factory trimmed or trimmed by the owner when she was young, so hard to tell and she doesn’t remember. The hair can be pulled into two pigtails, or pulled back at sides etc. At the moment she has two turquoise plastic flower barrettes holding back the front hair back just a bit. Her hair is VERY thick, has been cleaned and detangled completely. The hair clips are authentic in style and look wonderful with that AMAZING vintage dress. The tags on dress are for a vintage 1960s POLLY FLINDERS size 4T. If it was ever worn it was very gently worn! It is 50% cotton, 50% polyester. No rips or stains and has wonderful smocking and flower detail. Since doll owner could not find original clothes, we painstakingly searched out ALL new but period authentic items, from dress to underwear! She is wearing White cotton hanes brand new briefs. Her sleep eyes work, but I noticed her left eye is a bit lazy in comparison to right but with a little movement it seems to get in line. Her new socks have frilly trim. With proper posing of her shoes she can stand independently, see pics. Of course being 3 ft tall she will be in a box that is 38 tall to allow a bit of headroom. Adopt a 1959 35 Lifesize Joanie Doll Playpal Doll. Light Green Googly Eyes that go side to side and straight forward. Extra Long, curled eyelashes. Madame Alexander 1959, Joanie doll, is a large and well made doll. Joanie stands on her own very well, and is 35 tall, lifesize, like a real toddler. She is wearing, what I believe, is a BEAUTIFUL!!! Seamstress made, reproduction, dress and pinafore, of her Original outfit, in different colors. Her dress and pinafore, are extremely well made. Joanie has a nice complexion with a Dark Pink mouth. Wonderful Madame Alexander Nurses Aide Joanie doll, made by Ashton Drake in 2007. She is 33 tall and all original, mint condition in her original box. I took the plastic and some of the packaging materials off so you could see how beautiful she is, but never took her out of the box, and replaced it all afterward. She is clean and has no odors. Nurse Joanie is in very good condition. She has her original dress, cap, shoes and watch pin. She has a tiny hairline crack at her left butt cheek. She has some fading and slight loss of lip paint. The strap to one of her shoes is broken but could probably be stitched back in place. There is a gap in the ribbon trim of her cap and slight tearing to the fabric of her left sleeve cuff. This is Janie by Madame Alexander, 1959. Marked on her neck is “ALEXANDER 1959″. Her face is beautiful with nice blush, coloring, full painted features, clear and clean eyes that open and close. She has full eyelashes. Her hair is beautiful. Clean and shiny with a redish tint to it. It is uneven at the ends. Her body and limbs are excellent. No cracks or breaks and no stains. She comes with a beautiful nurse outfit and cap that are not original. These fit her perfectly and are in excellent and clean condition. Her shoes, socks and panties are very nice but not original. Gorgeous, hard-to-find Madame Alexander Nurse Joanie from 1959. She is a 35 playpal companion doll, dressed in a quality-made reproduction outfit. Overall, she is in very good condition for her age, but she is not perfect, please see all photos. Hair is lovely, thick and full with no missing plugs. Clear blue flirty eyes that open and close as they should, long lashes intact. Lip and eyebrow paint looks good, no rubs. Her joints are firm and hold pose, and her walker works well. Back of her neck is marked Alexander 1959. She has quite a bit of fading and discoloration in several spots on torso and legs. Red discoloration looks like dye bleed from a prior outfit, and the fading looks like it was done when someone tried to clean it. She also has what looks like a prior repair on her left foot and heel – see photos. It does not interfere with her standing or walking. Most of her flaws are covered by her clothing. Her outfit is a custom-made reproduction that includes blue and white striped dress, embroidered apron, hat, can-can, and bloomers. There is a tiny light yellowish spot on the back of the dress collar see photos. It might come out with cleaning, but I did not attempt to clean her outfit; it is otherwise in excellent condition and I did not want to risk damaging it. Her socks and shoes are children’s wear in fair used condition. Shoes are a little bit too big for her, but she can still walk in them. Overall, a lovely display doll to add to your collection! Riginal box in fair/poor condition. Doll has play wear including scratches , scuffs , surface dirt , uneven and blotchy skin tone on legs and torso mostly. Replaced dress, shoes and socks I’m pretty sure are original the shoes may have been white at one time. She has tinted painted nails I believe factory. Eyes open and close freely more on the blue side in shade I’m not sure if she has the flirty side to side eyes unless there’s a trick to make them move. I have taken some pics of what I can see on the inside of this doll she appears to be a walker with strung arms and a rod running to the legs now this is the first of this kind I’ve seen for myself I have mostly ideal playpals so I’m not sure how the Alexander doll operates or if anything is missing replaced or broken which is why I included what I can see inside the doll.
