Here is a late 1950s multijointed Dollikin 2S made by Uneeda. She is more than 60 years old now and, although beautiful, is not perfect. Her wonderful outfits are perfect. Dollikin’s head is soft vinyl, and the remainder of her body is hard plastic. She stands approximately 19 inches tall and has 16 movable joints. She was such a novel concept in her day and was the forerunner of today’s multijointed fashion dolls. The seams in the hard plastic of these dolls are not smooth like the more expensive hard plastic dolls made by Madame Alexander and others. But the Dollikin face is winsome and beautiful. This girl has rooted brunette hair that has a hint of cinnamon in some lighting. Her bob hairdo is not perfect, but very presentable. There is one spot on her left side that looks like it may have been trimmed in the past, but doesn’t detract, in my opinion. Not even sure it was cut, as I have a blonde Dollikin with the same hairstyle with shorter layering in one area. Dollikin has retained her original facial coloring, and her blue sleep eyes are bright and work well. Her left eye is slightly lazy. She does not have pierced ears, but they can be pierced using a simple push pin. The fingernails and toenails are painted. Her elbow joints are loose, and she can’t hold many different poses. Don’t know how to correct the loose elbow joints, but they do get that way over the years. Other joints seem okay; head is not as tight as other Dollikin’s I have, but she is very pose-able there, and I believe it is secure. Her right hip is a little more “bulgy” than the other, which is common in these dolls. Doesn’t really present a problem as far as I’m concerned. She has a light rub at the top front of her left hip where it goes into the body. Her two outfits are very striking, and the black pantyhose, high heels and pillbox hat interchange between the two. The shirtwaist dress is expertly made from a charcoal moire cotton fabric with very nice body. The bodice is fully lined, and the waistline seam is serged. There are four snaps under the rhinestone buttons, and I added a tiny vintage rhinestone bow pin at the neckline. There iis rhinestone trim on the cuffs, also. It has a very full skirt, and a burgundy velvet belt with rhinestone buckle has been added for a dash of color. Underneath, she wears a magnificent black taffeta can-can trimmed in lace and tulle ruffles inside and out. She is wearing black pantyhose that are original to Madame Alexander modern Cissy, a pair of perfect vintage Dolshoe high heels with rhinestone trim and unstretched elastic, and a pillbox hat with silver gray faille top and jacquard trim around the sides in complimentary colors to the dress. She carries a black knit fabric purse that is trimmed across the top with a beaded black braid and little snippets of fabric. It does not open and is very lightweight so that her weak elbow joints will allow her to hold it. The second outfit is a two-piece fitted suit made from a silvery gray vintage rayon faille (my favorite vintage fabric). Both pieces are fully lined, and it has a sewn-in label that reads An Original by Rosaleida. This lady is an awesome designer and seamstress who can make an outfit just by looking at a picture. The skirt has an unbanded waist and one snap in the back. The jacket has two snaps and a black sequined applique for decoration on the right side. Tiny beads are at the end of each sleeve. The pillbox hat was a part of this outfit, but also works very well with the shirtwaist dress. There is also a matching purse which opens. It ha a snap under the jacquard flap. This outfit was originally made for modern Cissy, so the sleeves were too long for Dollikin. Being fully lined, looked like it would never work to shorten the sleeves, so I used elastic thread on the inside seam to shirr them and make them shorter. They still need to be pushed up and primped a little when you get the jacket on the doll. I also added a black crystal bead necklace to complete this outfit. I think I have covered the waterfront and given you ample information for considering this doll. As always, the doll and outfits are prettier in person. This gorgeous blonde has decided to break out her summer wardrobe with this beautiful canvas of orange & green… A brand new wonderful puffed sleeve cotton dress, with a more-than-full skirt, closing at the back with snaps & a pretty bow! Underneath Cissy wears a taffeta & tulle slip with matching panties, vintage hosiery, and nicely coordinated original Cissy shoes. She accessorized with a faux-pearl jewelry set & “diamond” ring, carries new sheer white gloves, and ties her stunning wardrobe together with a glorious open-crown hat with matching bag Cissy has a LONG-running account with rtrorich! Cissy is of course! Her features are beautiful & her blush has been lightly refreshed. She has a couple of small touched up nicks above the lashes on her right eyelid, which of course don’t show at all when her eyes are open, and don’t affect them in any way. A small separation at the left high hip (waaaay inside her body cavity) has been professionally repaired and is not visible. This charming vintage Cissy doll has a few issues, but is the perfect model for this outfit. Cissy is a strawberry blonde, and the whites of her eyes have yellowed some. To minimize this, she was given a generous blush by a professional restorer. I believe the blush was also refreshed on her hands and knees. Her eyes are green, and she has all of her brush eyelashes. More on her later. Her dress was custom made by an awesome seamstress. It is brown and white stripe stiff taffeta–so stiff that the seamstress had to wash it before making the dress. It is a shirtwaist style with brown organdy cuffs and collar, rhinestone buttons and buttonholes down the front, a snap at the waistline, and a circular skirt. The waist is cinched with a brown velvet belt looped through a rhinestone buckle. A tiny spray of velvet flowers in cream, brown, and orange is tucked under her collar, but not attached. She wears a burnt umber feather bandeau by rtrorich and carries a brown straw clutch bag, also by rtrorich. Brown nylon gloves (not vintage) and high heels of brown elastic on vintage black bases complete the look. Under the dress, there’s a newer-made taffeta and tulle slip and a pair of vintage lace-trimmed taffeta panties. Her great-fitting seamed stockings are by Doll Secrets. They are shown in the last two pictures. To use the picture hat, you simply put it over the feather bandeau–and you never know the bandeau is there. Keeps from having to disturb the wig. Now, back to the doll. She has a hip split and a split above the knee on the inside of her right leg. There is also a small split at the top of the left leg, but well inside the torso. I have pictured all of this. Her vinyl arms are fine, and their stringing is good. I have a picture of her arms if you would like to see, but have run out of room for adding photos. Her head will bob and was purposely not given a tight band–for easier posing. I believe it is stable. Her knee joints work. She has the typical light rubs at the tops of her legs on the inside. I see no neck rubs. Maybe you have the skill to repair the splits. With her stated flaws, I think she is still the perfect model for this outfit due to her coloring. And she is really a striking display, all considered. She comes from a non-smoking home and is available to USA BUYERS ONLY.
