Welcome to my auctions! Cissy is 20 tall with hard plastic body and soft vinyl arms with jointed elbows. Her knees are also jointed for posing. She is lovely in her white nylon organdy dress with felt red polka dots. It has puffed sleeves and a red grosgrain sash tied into a bow in back. Under the skirt is a white nylon taffeta half slip with tiny red bow and matching undies with red bow trim. Also tight new nylons and red Cissy high heels. She is carrying a red purse with white nylon Cissy gloves and her only jewelry is her rhinestone bracelet. She wears a red facinator hat of netting, velvet bow, and feathers fashioned by Richards Originals. Her hair is a deep auburn color and is pulled back on each side with cluster of curls on top of her head, The rest of her hair is pulled back to her neck into curls and is tied with a red ribbon. Her face is lovely with nice cheek blush, brows, full lashes, and red mouth. Her eyes are clear and a greenish blue color. Vintage 1950′s Madame Alexander Cissy doll. Hard plastic with vinyl jointed arms. Stitched part blonde wig. Blue organdy dress with flocked dots. Original finger ring, white plastic ankle strap shoes. Presented here is a beautiful vintage Madame Alexander Cissy doll. She has a hard plastic jointed body with vinyl jointed arms. Stitched golden blonde wig in curls, the hair is tied at the sides, curls in the back, nice sheen, original style. Blue-green sleep eyes that open and close with thick hair lashes, painted under lashes, nice coloring, coral mouth, ears are not pierced. Marked on the back of the head “ALEXANDER” under the hair. She is wearing her original 1950′s dress of light blue organdy with flocked dots, it has mother-of-pearl buttons down the front and lace trim. The dress is finely made. Alexander but it does not have the tag, it has a square snap at the waist. The dress does have some repairs, mostly to the sleeves but shows very well. She has a cotton petticoat with a hoop, white lace panties and plastic molded white high heels with ankle straps. The hat is fabulous, original 50′s, it is made with rolled rosettes of genuine mink on a band with blue net veil and rayon ribbon ties. She has an original ring on her finger. Sun Dress of Organdy with val lace on the puffed sleeve and bodice. Rhinestones accent the bodice. This dress came with a floral print and the small bird print. This is the small. Print which is rarer. Very hard to find dress. Also included is the cream lace slip with tight elastic. My dolls are all around 50-80 years old. This stunning vintage tagged Alexander Cissy dress is the very rare lavender model of the dress pictured in Kiley Shaws wonderful Cissy book, on page 60. This dress has very pale polka dots which do show up more pronounced in my picture than they do on the actual dress. The lavender is very soft, when I put it next to a pink dress you can see its evenly pale lavender all over. When I put it next to Elise little purple hat, you can still see its pale lavender. You can see in my picture of the slip that the dress is a lavender next to the quite pink slip, so I do not believe this dress to be a pink faded, I believe this dress to be what I have presented it as. You will need to make up your own mind on that of course. It ties in back with a wide soft bow of the same material, and does up in back with 4 square snaps. No rips, holes or tears in this dress, and I have not washed it. Im fairly certain it would have been gently laundered at some stage in. Its 65 year life, its hard to tell because the tag colour still looks clean and clearly read. Sleeve elastic still holds firm, Im not sure if this has been replaced at some stage, if so its been very well done. At some stage, the petticoat has had extra elastic cord added to tighten a loose waist line. And ask questions if I have left out something important to you. This is really a gorgeous Cissy doll. She has wonderful original face color and lashes and even her eyeshadow. Pretty blonde hair and she has a replaced hair bar. Aside from the leg cracks her body is excellent and her knees maintain the blush. One of the wig sides could use a little glue. Her lavender organdy dress, slip and panties are very crisp. When restoring these 75 year old + dolls, great care is taken in having them look like they did when they were mint & new. Color is vibrant, Finish is satiny, features are complete and great effort has been taken to replicate the originality from the factory. MARGARET O’BRIEN Madame Alexander doll Child actress contemporary of Judy Garland and Others. She has Clear sleep eyes, Her original Mohair wig in loop braids which is in great shape. She is marked Alexander faintly on the back of her head. Her outfit is Factory made and of her day and style, but not original. Dress is dimity floral with a Organdy pinafore. Hat is vintage straw with old millinery. Good vintage shoes and socks. These girls have the prettiest faces. More beauties listed, so please take a look. Please look at all the pictures. There are good & clear close-ups. The item has been photographed well. The pictures are part of the description & support both the description and condition of the item. You have the option to use the magnification feature as well. Sometimes these 50-80 year old dolls just dont survive the test of time very well. Finding a skilled restorationist is as hard to find as the rare doll itself. This is a ART. A labor of love & mostly a lot of sanding. With these collectible pieces, I have done my best to keep the doll looking as original as possible when the doll was factory made (not what a 80 year old faded doll looks like). With that being said, These are still Vintage & Antique dolls. Composition especially has a lot of factory nuances that other materials do not have. Their imperfections are part of the charm of composition. This doll has been repaired if needed, and eyes will be clear and a appropriate color. There will be no missing fingers or toes. I use paints which are very similar to the ones used by the factory. The overhaul process includes stripping, filling, sanding, priming, airbrush painting, hand painted features & sealing. I pay special attention to the faces and they are completely smooth. I line the head socket with suede. I have been a skilled Artist all my life. The doll in the photo has the ball-joint body of Miss Madelaine (I have several listed currently). Research indicates that “ACTIVE MISS” was made with two bodies—the earlier 1954 dolls had the ball-joint bodies, and the later 1954 “PRE-CISSY” Active Miss dolls had the body of this Beauty listed here. If you compare her hard plastic jointed legs with the 1955 BINNIE doll, I also have listed, you will see they both have the same SLENDER JOINTED HARD PLASTIC LEGS with ORIGINAL PINK KNEES, and BEAUTIFULLY SCULPTED DAINTY “LIFE-LIKE” KNEES! It is my conclusion that this BEAUTIFUL ACTIVE MISS DOLL WITH CISSY FACE was a “TRANSITION CISSY DOLL”—A “MARKET TEST” DOLL—to try out the JOINTED VINYL ARMS on a CISSY FACE 18″ DOLL to confirm the investment being made to manufacture the 20″ CISSY DOLL IN 1955 with the same jointed vinyl arms, but with jointed hard plastic high heel feet. This Active Miss Doll is not an easy doll to find in reference books because SHE IS SO RARE. In 2009 & 2010, her book value was 850. This was one of the very first dolls I ever “adopted”—SHE SET THE BAR HIGH FOR MY VINTAGE MADAME ALEXANDER DOLL COLLECTION. I never thought I would ever willingly part with her—but Life has taught me an important lesson just recently. I believe it is now time to OFFER HER TO YOU FOR YOUR RARE DOLL COLLECTION.
