Here today is a beautiful 20 inch Cissy doll wearing her Garden Party outfit made by Madame Alexander in 1956. Cissy has her original shiny blonde semi curly wig in its original set. She is marked on the back of her neck ALEXANDER. She is all original with no touch ups. Cissy has crystal clear open and close blue/green eyes, smokey eyeshadow, full set of hair eyelashes and painted lower lashes and perfect red painted lips. She has a very slight bit of blushed cheeks. I don’t see any unwanted marks on her face or body. She does have a tiny bit of a neck rub, not bad. Cissy still has the blush on her hands and knees. Her joints are in perfect condition with knees and arms bending easily with no splits or cracks. Her head is just a very tad bit wobbly but has no problems holding a pose. Cissy is wearing her original tagged Garden Party dress made of white organdy closing in the back with 4 original intact square snaps. As shown in the pictures there are some aging (yellowing) areas, mostly on the lower ruffle area. The dress other wise is in very nice condition with only one diagonal seam in the back lower ruffle area and a very tiny one in seam of the neckline ruffle that are missing some stitching, they are not tears and can easily be fixed. The dress has a beautiful organdy sash that ties into a bow in the back. Im not certain if the vintage pink cabbage roses are original to the dress. Cissy also wears the original white satin pantaloons with lace trim, the elastic has no more elasticity left. To complete her outfit is the original satin hoop slip, original nylon hosiery with back seams and her original gold tone strap high heels, that are in very good condition. The slip has a bend or a break in the back hoop so it flattens out a little in the back, the waists elastic also has no elasticity left. Her entire beautiful outfit appears to have been washed. With just a little bit of professional added blush Cissy would be absolutely stunning. She is in excellent very clean condition. I believe she dates from the 1950s. Here knees are jointed. Her outfit is all original. She is dressed as a Chamber Maid and comes complete with her own dusting stick and little lace cap on her head. I will answer the best I can. Her eyes open and close. Cloth tag on the back of the dress. There is a small faded spot on the back edge of the dress (see photo). Very good condition for the age. Here dress is a little dusty, but I did not attempt to clean her in any way. I leave that for the experts. A wonderful addition for any collection or she would make a great gift. Madame Alexander Cissy Velvet Sheath Matinee dated back to 1958 in EVC and absolutely all original!! This doll rarely comes up for sale and if you are a MA collector, with exquisite taste, she would definitely be the one to consider. Matinee Cissy girl is a high ticket item yes, but she is a doll of quality, beauty and rarity. Beautiful Cissy has the infused body with high color and comes to you sporting her original black velvet sheath matinee outfit – all is complete, all is original and all is in excellent vintage condition. Body is clean having no splits, cracks or issues and she can pose perfectly for you however you may please. Sheath dress often does not age well, however, this doll has been preserved quite nicely for her years. The outfit has no holes, shredding or discoloration. Cissy girls hair is very light shiny gorgeous blonde, retains spanner bar and in the original factory set from 1958. Cissy is also sporting pierced clear tear drop pierced earrings, eyes are a beautiful clear light blue, face colors are perfect and all original, eye lashes thick and lovely, eyes open and close as they should. The black velvet sheath dress has wonderful draping and is accessorized with her pocket watch. All stitching looks original to me. Dress has a nice crisp and clean Madame Alexander Cissy tag attached. Cissy is also wearing her MA gauntlets in a pretty light bluish color, a to die for large light blue hat with lots of tulle and adorned with bright pink roses. Cissy will also come to your wearing a faux vintage pearl necklace, faux vintage pearl bracelet, faux adjustable clear chaton rhinestone ring, black and gold hat box which contains comb, pink rollers attached to the original cardboard and original elastic strap so that Cissy can hold with her hand, stockings are perfect and cream color taffeta panties trimmed with lace are also perfect. The black strappy heels elastic has stretched (please see pictures). So as you can see, the elastic on Cissy’s shoes are the only small issue with the entire doll and entire outfit from 1958!! I must say, that is a pretty darn good ratio!! If you would care to look in the back section of this great book, you will find Thumbnails: Index by Year. Go to the year 1958 or turn to page number 157 to review. Now on this page, it states the Black Matinee is RARE. I do know, that other collectors consider this girl to definitely be drool worthy. I might add, that if you don’t have a copy of “The Cissy Files” and love MA Vintage Cissy dolls, you are missing out not having this wonderful reference book with oodles of wonderful pictures and information. Marked Baby Jane MME Alexander. The doll was made to represent Juanita Quigley, a 1930′s celebrity child film star. The doll features a brown wig, brown glass sleep eyes with full and painted upper lashes, an open mouth with four teeth and blushing dimpled cheeks. Her eyes look cloudy. The doll features a jointed neck, shoulder and hip. The doll is dressed in the original dress with a braided lace collar, pink ribbon. She also has a one piece slip – underpants, original socks and shoes. The button is pinned on the dress with a photo of Juanita Quigley, the button says, The nations favorite. A baby Jane doll. Everything on this doll is original. The problem was my mother had her heart set on a Shirley Temple doll so she never played with this doll. Doesn’t your vintage CISSY doll deserve a gorgeous ROSE PINK TAFFETA FORMAL GOWN for her special holiday GIFT… She will love it! NOTE: Doll and jewelry not included… Gown is NOT mint nor perfect but in very nice vintage condition. This Cissy gown is #2036 from 1956 and it may be the RARE long torso gown of ROSE taffeta. The lighting may show different color tones in the iridescent taffeta but gown is not faded or dusty. A cummerbund waist cascades down to form a side drapery caught up by a rhinestone jeweled pin. The puffed taffeta shoulder straps are also adorned with rhinestone pins. Her gown is in very good vintage condition but the back bodice does not appear to be perfect. The fourth snap that is attached to the thick drape material at back waist appears to be reinforced with additional pink thread. I looked at a couple of similar gowns in different colors and the shoulder straps were attached differently. I checked with a well-known Cissy collector who has this particular Rose Taffeta Cissy Gown and she sent me pictures of the back shoulder straps and lining. Her gown and my gown both have finished bodice with tag sewn in between the taffeta and organdy. Her shoulder straps were stitched on the inside finished bodice and not on the outside taffeta like mine. However, it would be an easy fix to remove stitching and stitch straps back on the inside of the finished back bodice. If we find out anything different, I will post it. I don’t notice any particular tears, pulls or stains in the gown and it is tagged “CISSY” and has not been laundered and is also lined with organdy which looks aged in color. Organdy slip with under slip in picture is also included with this rose gown. NOTE: I do not see any noticeable tears, pulls, or rips in the fabric at the back where the snaps are located. P lease zoom up pic s of the back bodice and snap areas for condition details. Doll clothing is in very nice vintage condition except for noted flaws above and has no offensive odors and my home is non-smoking with no inside pets.
