The Rarest Maggie On The Planet? Well, I’m not sure of that, but I can tell you this Maggie is as rare as she is stunning! Before acquiring this 14 beauty, a few years prior I was able to bring home the same costumed doll, with a Margaret face. Not being able to locate ANY literature or photographs of her, I consulted with two of the most well-respected Madame Alexander collectors/historians. They had never seen this gorgeous costume either, but from their knowledge & expertise, it was thought that this may have been a limited “special edition, ” perhaps made for a department store, and could possibly have been another version of Cinderella in her ball gown! We may never know for certain, but what we DO know is that she is one VERY rare doll! Her original tagged chiffon blush colored gown has a bodice similar to the Rosamund Bridesmaid, with small ruffles accentuating a sweetheart neckline. Loosely gathered sleeves drape her shoulders. The skirt of the gown is very full, and there are three rows of ruffles at the hemline. There are a couple of very small minor snags & pin holes in the chiffon. Any “fraying” at the hemline, etc. I promise you none of these minor items are at all noticeable because of the billowy fullness of the gown… This gown is in outstanding condition considering its 67 years! Closure is at the back with two square snaps. Underneath is an attached lightweight taffeta underskirt and replaced panties; and although there was no additional slip originally, I’ve added a pretty lace-trimmed crinoline to add some extra fullness. She wears her original perfect satin shoes, and I added a small vintage faux-pearl necklace & faux pearl bracelet. Both of the vintage floral bouquets (in her hair & at the waist of her gown) have been “spruced up” and look lovely. THIS IS ONE BREATHTAKING DOLL. Maggie is absolutely exquisite. Her features are gorgeous and her blush has been refreshed. Her delicate platinum floss hair is arranged in a lovely updo; a very narrow “slit” above her right leg hole (even though perfectly stable,) has been professionally repaired. Maggie has beautiful crystal clear blue-green eyes with full lashes, and no splits, cracks or odors. SHE’S EXQUISITE, SHE’S PERFECTION, SHE’S VERY RARE.. DON’T LET HER GET AWAY. MADE FROM A VINTAGE PATTERN AND FABRICS. Will also fit the 20 Miss Revlon, Dollikin and like dolls. This ensemble is constructed in the style of and with the same attention to detail as Cissy’s originals… Many of my items are made in the likeness of Original designs.. My torso gown pattern was obtained from a tattered original which I took apart stitch by stitch to create a copy as close as possible to the original. Cissy models my version or copy of the #2100 mauve taffeta torso dress seen on page 33 of Madame Alexander’s Ladies of Fashion book. Not sure if this gown was meant to have the sleeves facing out as shown in this book, but I’ve seen it displayed both ways and really prefer them inside as usually seen on the velvet gowns. This allows the beautiful style of the bodice to be at it’s best. The fabric is a lovely mauve linen with a silk texture and backing. It has a nice weight and feel. The perfect shade braided trim was placed along the bodice edge and the inner sleeve edge. The gown bodice is lined with taffeta. I believe all these fabrics are vintage. The book speaks of this trim being caught on both sides with a circle of pearls, so I used what I hope will represent this look. I also created a petticoat much like the original of vintage taffeta. Vintage ribbon edges the fine tulle and vintage lace trims the attached panties. I pulled them inside out for the photo so you can see them. Of course the gown has the attached bra inside so Cissy is well covered… !! Starting price of my auctions reflect what is invested in the ensemble… !! Are Cissy with straight arms in need of significant TLC. Her entire body needs to be reassembled. The torso is hollow and has a bit of the hard plastic odor. The wig also smells like hard plastic odor, but that may be from being stored next to the torso. Legs and arms do not smell. Crack in one leg. The tulle on the dress is matted, but cascade of flowers still in decent shape. Includes pale pink tulle petticoat. Red hairdo is really pretty and in original set. She wears one earring. Eyes are blue tinged with gold around the pupil. Right eyelashes have been slightly snipped in one area. I cannot find the gloves, but I feel like I may have them somewhere. Doll is featured in a Madame Alexander book. I found the gauntlets! They are pink’ please see photos. This is a vintage 1950′s Madame Alexander Cissy Doll. She was played with and was well loved by my mother’s friend when she was a child. She comes from a non-smoking home. This doll has both eyes missing some eyelashes and her head is a bit wobbly. Her gown is tagged with a label that says “Cissy” by Madame Alexander. It has some staining and small bit of something sticky on the right side near the waist I did not want to wash the dress and prehaps ruin it – should be professionally cleaned. She also has a matching pink velvet stole, eyelet half slip and yellow panties. She has pierced ears (no earrings). Her hair is a bit messy and there is some glue showing on either side of her head. Despite all of that she is one of the prettiest dolls I have seen. Shoes and doll stand are not included. Here for your consideration is a gorgeous ball gown and matching wrap for your Cissy doll, as well as the taffeta hoop slip and net hairpiece that accompany the outfit. It has been in my collection for awhile, tucked away, not displayed. This outfit has been classified as “rare” in the “Cissy Files” book by Shaw. This gown is known as the Camelia gown. Unlike the print of the more common Camelia gown, which has monochromatic flowers closely spaced together, the flowers on this fabric are widely spaced and are in various shades of pink with green stems and leaves on a cream background. The fabric used for the gown and cape is really sumptuous. The gown is silk and is fully lined with taffeta. It has a sweetheart neckline and the bodice is decorated with a bow at the waist. The skirt portion falls in loose box pleats from the bodice and has a slight train in the back. The cape is pink velvet lined with the matching floral silk. As to the condition of this outfit it is excellent/near mint. The colors on the gown are beautiful and vibrant. There are no rips, tears, stains or repairs. There is one spot of soiling on the gown which I have photographed. It is not a stain, more like a smudge, and could probably be easily removed. Other than that, there is some fading to the velvet on the front of the pink cape. My camera won’t pick it up but it is not dramatic and doesn’t detract. The five snaps on the gown are all secure. The elastic waist on the taffeta slip is stretched out. A thread has been woven through the elastic to assist in tightening it up. The original floral hairpiece is also included. It is very fragile. The netting has some holes and a pink flower may be missing. These garments are an excellent display of the incredible workmanship and quality that the Madame Alexander company was famous for.
