Exceptional Vintage 1937 Madame Alexander 17 Jane Withers Composition Doll. An exceptionally clean Jane Withers doll with all original tagged clothing! Her twin sister, a little shorter (16), is listed in a separate listing. This is a vintage 1937 Madame Alexander Jane Withers 17 composition doll. All of her clothing are original. Her pink floral dress retains its original perfect tag and size tag sewn neatly in the seams, appears to have never been washed, and the cotton fabric is still full and crisp. Onesie slip is in the same beautiful clean condition as the dress, unwashed, full fabric, and crisp. And, the matching hat is spotless clean and retains its original form. All in like new condition. Original socks and shoes are also near perfect. One of the decorative metal buckles is missing. Ane also comes with her original gold untarnished script name pin. Jane’s composition is in amazing beautiful condition. No breakage, crazing, stains, or paint flaking. Only has five sharp pencil point surface lines. Actually looks like drawn sharp pencil lines, but cannot be rubber erased. Two by her right eye, two near her mouth, and one on her left leg (please see close-up photos). Nearly unnoticeable in person. Her original sleep eyes have darkened to a deep dark brown, sometimes needs a nudge to open. Jane’s reddish-brown mohair wig is still full and retain all of its original curls. Stringing is good, can easily hold a pose, and displays beautifully. Much nicer in person, photos don’t do justice. Exceptional Vintage 1937 Madame Alexander Jane Withers Composition Doll. An exceptionally clean Jane Withers doll with all original tagged clothing! This is a vintage 1937 Madame Alexander Jane Withers 16 composition doll. All of her clothing are original. The snapped strap on her right shoe has cleanly pulled apart. Jane also comes with her original gold untarnished script name pin. And, almost forgot about her precious little pink hat! The hat is in extremely nice condition. Retains its original elastic chin strap (elastic has eased) and is tucked inside the hat. The hat has a few tiny spots (please see photo), yet is still in excellent condition. This precious little hat seems to always be missing. Jane’s composition is free from breakage, does have some slight crazing and paint flaking. Her original brown sleep eyes are still bright and clear, and her amazing reddish brown mohair wig is still full and retains its original curls. MADAME ALEXANDER Jane Withers doll. Jane is a little harder to find, but very easy to identify as she is a very specific celebrity doll with a head mold only utilized for her.. Child actress contemporary to Shirley Temple. She has been restored by a competent restorationist. What that means: The doll is not my work and has been restored by someone else. Restorers all use their own favorite methods for repair and have very individual styles of paint work. The facial features on this doll are expertly painted. Jane has green sleep eyes, and wears her original wig. She wears a darling reproduction doll jumper, blouse, hat & onsie that was created by the restorers Mother. She has real leather shoes. She does have crazing and some compo wear and paint loss. There is a chip on her neck. Her eyelashes have some loss and the eyes are not clear. A rarer doll in an unusual mid size. Should be in the home of a serious collector. ITEM SKU or Number. No seen crazing, hair intact. Tagged clothing, no wrist tag nor pin. NUMBER OF ITEMS OFFERED? Vintage/antique Jane Withers Madame Alexander doll circa 1937-39. Composition doll, open mouth, straight leg, working sleep eyes with eyelashes, painted single stroke brows and painted lower lashes. Jane Withers was a 1930s child actress, a contemporary to Shirley Temple. Madame Alexander did not secure the Shirley Temple endorsement, and instead opted to endorse Jane Withers. String has not been tightened but is stable, eyes make a soft thunk when they open and close. Inside her eyes may have age related color changes. Beautiful wig/hair like wine color. Original dress, bottom is wool plaid, top is white with short sleeve with a black vest which has white trim. I see no imperfections visible in her clothing. All under dress, socks and shoes are intact. Fingers are intact, did not remove shoes to check toes. No immediately seen crazing, cracks or other damage but I have not undressed the dol. This is a rarer sized, already rare doll. Overall good condition for her age with tagged dress. COMMENTS IN ALL OFFERS. We offer for your consideration a gently displayed 1952 only vintage Madame Alexander 29 complete soft plastic vinyl and cloth Alice in Wonderland doll. She is stunning and was well preserved by the original owner. She was not a play doll and only a display doll. Her highly blushed cheeks are exquisite and perfectly round. Her hair is long, thick, and set in the original style with only a few fly away hairs you may want to restyle. He eyes are bright, engaging, and unclouded. She appears so fresh, clean, and displayable; she looks like she was made just 10 years ago. Her tagged dress is satiny, clean, and in amazing condition. The sleeve ends are still stretchy. The white apron pinafore is bright, white, and beautiful. She displays perfectly in her custom made, original, and tagged blue dress. Her dress and panties are bright and attractive clothes with well attached snap buttons on the dress. You can see her tights are most likely original- they fit her so perfectly; the waist is still stretchy, and they show no wear, discoloration, or age. Her original shiny black Mary Jane shoes fit her well, and they are totally intact and clean. The bottom of both of her shoes is a soft sole. She was displayed on a chair by the original adult collector. The doll was stored in a cool dark room in her pet and smoke free house. She is free of any odors, issues, or blemishes. Her blonde hair is still tied back in her original bow with a lovely style of long soft curls. Her hair is full and well attached to her wig cap. Her face is an even color with a bright and even blush. Her sleep eyes open and close easily; they are unclouded with totally intact eyelashes. She shows no noticeable age or discoloration. We left her as is to preserve her in the original found condition. She shows no issues or flaws. Her cloth body is sparkling in the condition and absolutely clean and gloroius. Her coloration is much more bright and blushed than she appears in her photos. She is complete with no chews, splits, or obvious damage. She does not have any open seams or major noticeable detracting negatives. Her hair is uncut and close to the original style. We listed two other Edith/ Kelly/ Marybel face dolls this week from the same collection. She is truly one of a kind in her condition. Her face is colored exactly the same as her limbs. Her lips and cheeks are highly blushed. Her lips are full and pink. She appears flawless until I really scrutinized her. In one sof the photos you may see several smudges or marks on the left side of her forehead. I did not even notice until my daughter pointed it out. She has a real small minor thinned spot, or hole, on the top of her tights near the waist. The tights are thick and strong, so it does not affect the integrity of her bright white tights. She also has a small smudge or mark on the top back of one of her arms. Thank goodness for the young eyes of our 13 gear-old daughter. She pointed out these little unnoticeable blemishes. This doll is one of hundreds of dolls from an adult lady collector. She is moving and downsizing her vast doll collection. Many of the these dolls are from the 1920s through the 1960s; they may show some minor age for their age because they are between 100 and 60 years of age. Many of these were from the original owner’s collection of displayed, but not played with, dolls. Some of the older dolls were from her mother’s collection. These are all from a pet and smoke free home. They were well preserved with no odors or major issues. Please write with any questions. Super nice 13″ MADAME ALEXANDER “JANE WITHERS closed mouth composition doll. This little gem is in exceptional condition for a composition doll. Under magnification she has some minor crazing on her right arm inside elbow and some slight craze on her left lower leg. Looks like she bonked her nose tiny nick under magnifier and her upper lip has a teeny tiny nick and craze line. Black line on side of nose is a mark not a craze. Her face is beautiful. Small nick on one finger and one toe. Her little hands show flesh color wear on fingertips. Her eyes are brown. They open and close well. Her hair is a wine color and is a bit wild. I believe her clothes and shoes are original. Dress on the top has a few pulls in the gauze and shows yellowing. Socks inside the shoes has staining. The elastic on on her undies has lost its stretch. Slip is attached to dress and is good. Her painted eyebrows and lower painted lashes show wear. One eyebrow is almost gone. Her upper real eyelashes look good. The doll needs to be restrung. She’s pretty loose. Signed on back of her head JANE WITHERS ALEXANDER DOLL CO. Offered here is a brand new, never removed from box, Madame Alexander 8 Wendy doll, style number 73330, called Mary Jane. She is the souvenir doll of the 2019 Madame Alexander Doll Club Convention, held this past June 26-29, 2019 in Winston Salem, North Carolina. Her COA reads 9 of 154. The Convention theme was A Walk in the Garden. All the dolls reflected the theme, and Mary Jane is adorable in her mint green dress. Mary Jane has brunette hair done in smooth bangs and shoulder length curls. I have not removed the doll from the box, so I don’t know the exact style. I did not remove the hairnet, I only pulled it back for the pictures. The doll has dark eyes, red lips and high cheek color. Her costume is a soft green dress with a white Peter Pan collar and short sleeves. The bottom of her dress is embroidered with pretty flowers in shades of pink and yellow with darker green leaves. She is wearing pearlized green shoes, and white socks and white panties, and there is a cute little white straw hat with applied flowers of pink and yellow and a yellow velvet ribbon. There is an elastic band to hold the hat on the doll’s head. Please note: her box got a bit crunched at the edges on the journey home. Her box is not flawed, and will still function as a box, but it is not pristine. Hopefully, you collect dolls, not boxes, and this will make no difference.
