R 1948 Near Mint Madame Alexander Nina Ballerina. In Rare Tagged Yellow Tutu. This exquisite beautiful ballerina is one of the gems in my collection and is in near mint condition. She has her original stringing, which is still at exactly the right tension. Starting with her head, Nina has the lightest blond flaxen hair with her hair upswept into a top chignon with her headdress of yellow flowers and one cabbage rose. She should have two more. Her bangs could use a wee bit of curl – an easy fix. Ninas face is beyond exquisite and one of the best Ninas I have ever seen. Lovely matte peaches and cream complexion, high colour rouge, beautiful red lips and the bluest of eyes. Ninas rare yellow tutu is crisp with no wilting. Nina comes with pale pink ballet tights/stockings. Again rare for this line of Ninas. There is the tiniest of holes on her camera right leg. Her pink ballet slippers do show some age wear which is to be expected. Nina is an ex Lia Sargent Doll, though the paper work has been lost to time. No need to be concerned about packing. Welcome to my auctions! She is 20 tall, made of hard plastic with soft vinyl jointed arms. She is stunning in her lemon yellow dotted swiss dress with white puffed sleeves. Black velvet bows on her skirt and velvet laced through eyelet around her neck was added. Under the dress is a white nylon taffeta slip and undies. Nice tight Cissy stockings and black Cissy shoes. Her face is gorgeous with high cheek color, full lashes, full red mouth and matte finish. Her deep auburn hair is pulled back to her neck and is tied with a black velvet bow. Her accessories are a black straw hat with yellow flowers, black straw bag and lemon yellow nylon gloves. Her only jewelry is a pair of gold ball earrings. She has had a spa day to enhance her face. Cissy is festive as can be dressed in her outfit known as “Ripples of Rhythm” or “Yellow Cameo”. It has bright coloring and original cameo and black grossgrain tie. Hat is VHTF and the yellow velvet roses set the dress off perfectly. Doll wears original hose, new jewelry, new shoes and carries a custom hatbox. Original slip and panties– these are a bit on the limp side. Cissy herself is made of infused plastic. She has no hip splits or knee splits. At the top of her neck you can see the seam in the plastic. I don’t consider this a split.. It is more of a dirt line from her 60 year life. Her head has been restrung. Her eyes look good. For your consideration a RARE and HARD TO FIND (especially in yellow) 1955 SLW Wendy Ann Hard Plastic 8 doll known as Scarlett O’Hara #485. She is wearing a two layer polished muslin gown: white/ yellow flower/green trim with braid and tiny green bows. Has never been washed, you can see the new fabric sheen. Sleeves are tulle and wears large hat with yellow flowers. Dark brown hair and green eyes. The tag on her dress reads Alexander Kins. She wears black fuzzy shoes with side snaps and white socks. This is a 1956 Cissy, I believe. She has a painted face, not infused. Her coloring is bright and she has perfect clear blue eyes with white eye whites. She may have been reblushed. I think this is possible because her one small hip crack has been professionally mended (see photograph). Her blonde updo hair is in its original set. She has an unusually sensitive Cissy face. I like the delicacy of her coloring. The dress is very full and perky and is supported by a matching yellow crinoline. She has matching taffeta panties and is wearing vintage hose and replacement white Cissy style sandal heels. Her stringing is good and she poses well for the most part, though she can be stubborn about holding her head to the side. I could get her to do it for her photos. All in all, she is a lovely doll.
