She is strung nicely and holds position. There are no cracks or stains – she is a very nice doll. Auburn triple stitch wig. She wears a white taffeta dress, tagged – no stains or tears and all snaps work. It has a green velvet loopidoo on the front. She has a green velvet coat with a matching pixie hat. The coat has no problems and has a green cotton lining and an excellent tag below the wide peter pan collar. Her Pixie velvet hat has all its cute little studs present. Under the dress is a pair of white taffeta undies with vale lace. Her slip is white organdy with vale lace. She is a bent knee walker and it works nicely. On her feet are fuzzy bottom green velvet side snap shoes and nylon socks. She carries a vintage white faux fur muff with attached tiny flowers. She is free of odors, stains, or chews. She did have a split in the right leg inside the socket that was repaired. No other cracks or splits. She is an infused plastic doll, not a painted plastic. She Has beautiful clear blue eyes and pretty auburn hair. Her wig is clean and full. Her eyes open and close with ease and have full, original lashes. Her face is beautiful with all original makeup. From our special family collecltion, this gorgeous Cissette doll by Madame Alexander has never been played with or displayed. She has always been stored in an appropriately sized Madame Alexander doll box. Box is not included. She is in excellent condition. From my brief research, I have found that this doll is from 1957, and her number is #973. My husband’s grandmother and two aunts collected many lovely dolls and displayed many of them. This particular Cissette we found stored away with others who appear to have never been even displayed. His one remaining aunt is now ninety-five years old and resides in a special memory care unit. At this time we are utilizing some special “treasures” to help provide for the unique care she requires. We are looking for new homes for many dolls where they will be loved and cared for. Cissette’s hard plastic body is jointed at the neck, shoulders, hips, and knees. She is a somewhat loose but is still posable. Her strawberry blonde hair, triple-stitched wig, is in the original exceptional formal set… Parted in the middle, two mid-forehead upswept pullbacks with crown curls, two forehead curls, shoulder-length curls pulled back and held at center neck. The back curls are slightly flattened from positioning while stored. Cissette’s pretty blue sleep eyes function properly, and her molded lashes are intact. She has a flawless complexion and beautiful facial coloring. Her hands and fingers and feet and toes are quite detailed, and she stands 9 1/2 inches tall. I find no markings on her back, but I have no doubt whatsoever that she is a Madame Alexander Cissette. Is this unusual to find one with no markings? I guess that there could be something on the nape of her neck, but I cannot see without disturbing her hair, and I don’t want to do that. Cissette is wearing her original formal outfit which has never been removed. The black cotton velveteen sheath dress is completely lined. It is sleeveless with a deep scooped neckline and a walking slit in the back. Over the sheath, there is a soft black dotted tulle overskirt. The tulle is attached to a black velvet ribbon waistband and is separate from the sheath. It looks like the ends of the skirt band were sewn/connected together and the flowers sewn on over the point of connection. The band is not attached to the dress itself. It is positioned so that the gathered dotted tulle runs from left of center front around to right of center front, overlaying the back of the dress but leaving the front of the dress exposed. This is pretty wordy, but sometimes the details of a black fabric are difficult to see… Especially if the photographers are amateurs such as we. Cissette has on white lace-trimmed taffeta panties which have an elastic waist and boy style legs, and her nude-colored stockings are seamed. She has on strappy black high heels, a “pearl” necklace, and a rhinestone bracelet. The shoes look perfect. The “pearls” were probably whiter many year ago than they are now. Although there are holes in the earlobes, she is missing her rhinestone earrings. Anyway, there is no discoloration on the ears. I guess this will have to be a mystery. This doll is striking and all original, there are no issues with the plastic, she has full lashed open and close blue eyes, a brunette wig in the original set, double stroke eyebrows, red lips and very nice blushed cheeks. I just got in a collection from one owner. Her father owned a toy shop in the 50′s. She was very spoiled! This is a 1956 Dress with snaps and Rhinestones. These can be seen in Kiley Shaw’s “The Cissy Files” on p 84. It says that there were an array of fabrics used in 1956 and that these dresses are either HTF or Rare and were Boxed Extras this year. This exact dress is prominently featured in the book. The color is a beautiful. It is in very good, I would say never played with condition. The colors are bright and beautiful and there are no holes or stains and the fabric sits out beautifully. It’s a lovely dress that will look wonderful on your Cissy! This is a 1954 Madame Alexander-kins doll wearing a pastel pink organdy dress with pastel blue organdy pinafore. “Maypole Dance” on straight leg walker. Here for your consideration is the Madame Alexander opera gown introduced in 1957. It is in beautiful condition with only very minor issues noted below. Also included is the powder blue taffeta slip. The gown is a lace print on heavy faille. It is sleeveless with a plunging “v” neckline and a very full skirt. Yards of fabric must have been used to construct these gowns. Hard to imagine that being repeated in today’s economy. Anyway, the gown has an attached blue velvet sash accented with pink and blue roses. In the back, the gown closes with four snaps. The “Cissy” tag is sewn into a seam on the inside. I have to be very picky here to find fault with this garment. The sash may be faded a bit but it’s hard to tell without seeing a “new” one to compare it to. One half of the lowest snap is coming loose. Also, there is a faint pink mark near the third snap. That’s pretty much it. It’s a lovely garment! The light blue taffeta slip has a gathered tulle ruffle around the bottom. It has not fared quite as well as the gown. The elastic has stretched out at the waist and there are places where the taffeta has pulled away from the elastic. There are a few faint spots on the slip but I could not get them to show up in the photo. Please ask any questions you may have in case I missed something important to you.
