This is a light blond hair, blue eyed, painted lash Wendy Alexander-kins that comes to you in close to minty, unplayed with condition. If you have a chance to look at the book Alexander-Kins by Patricia Smith you will find this rare doll on page 162. She is a straight leg walker doll in beautiful condition from 1955. She was called Scarlett and was part of the Fiction and Storybook line by Madame Alexander. She has her original tagged clothing as you can compare to the book. She is doll #485. Her dress is flower print muslin, trimmed with a dark green braid and tiny dark green bows. The sleeves of the dress are made of tulle as well as the attached upper part of the underskirt of the dress. The rest of the underskirt is the same print of muslin. She wears and excellent preserved condition wide straw hat adorned with flowers. Please see all of her photos. This doll is 8 inches tall. Her walker is a bit fussy not working on one side properly. It is a common problem with these old dolls. I will leave that up to her new owner. She was never played with. Every curl in her wig is in place and as you can see by the photos she has the standard triple stitch wig. Her shoes are in beautiful condition with perfect snaps, rayon socks and fuzzy bottoms. Her bloomers have lace and a hint of yellow under the lace. Elastic is showing signs of age but holding fairly well. I can’t find anything seriously wrong with any of her clothing. I can’t verify that her bloomers and slip are hers only because the book does not describe her underclothing. I bought this doll in an antique store years ago and she is as I bought her. She is free from smoke and has lived in a cabinet for many years. She has been free from light sources and you can see her color is even and lovely. No seam splits or cracking. Her hat has it’s original elastic as well as, tie. There may be a slight frey on the trim edges of the ties and bows. There is a slight frey on the tag due to age, Also I have included a photo of an indentation that is slight and on her arm which is a factory error. It is not a crack at all. I have at times over the years used dolly rouge on my dolls which washes off with plain water and leaves no damage. I can’t recall if this doll ever had it or not so I just mention it because, it does not affect the value of this doll at all. She is gorgeous, in un-played with condition with a bit of a fussy walker, needs some string attention. I can’t say how the walker will work. She is a very old doll. She is rare and of great value. She will make a lovely addition to your collector or a fantastic Christmas/Holiday gift for that doll collector in your family. I don’t know if it’s the original box it does say Alexander kids on the box but it’s just tough guy here here is a Marvel redhead. Her dress is marked her shoes have the fuzzy bottoms. For your consideration, a charming 8 1956 #625. Wendy wears a Charming Ensemble. She is a hard plastic doll with a “Alex” tag on her back. She is a Bend Knee Walker. Her outfit consist of. White Taffeta undies, white taffeta tagged dress that matches the lining of her coat. Over her dress, she wears a emerald green velvet coat with a Peter pan collar and three white buttons. She wears a matching triangular hat with 3 triple tiny brads. On the 11th picture you can only see 2 the other one is on the other side. All clothing is in excellent condition, no rips, tears, discolorations etc. As is the doll. Her shoes snap on the side and they have fuzzy soles, as most shoes in the’50s did. Madame Alexander-kins tagged Wendy Doll Has Fun Wearing Black Taffeta Pinafore (c625). This is a lovely doll made by the Madame Alexander Doll Company in 1956. She is a bent knee walker and has a triple stitch tosca wig. She stands on her own and holds position. Her walker works great- and she is strung well. No problems with her body – cracks or stains, etc. She have perfect face coloring and appears to have never been played with. Her outfit is excellent and tagged. No moth holes, all snaps work. She wears a darling green oxide colored hat with original flowers. The elastic is still excellent. The dress is coral pink organdy and tagged. The pinafore has original matching flowers to the hat. She has a white star embroidered half slip and matching cotton panties. Her socks are nylon white with fuzzy sole side snap mary jane shoes. NO fading or damage to mention, she is what I would consider perfect and never displayed or played with. Her sleep eyes are perfectly working. She is an excellent doll. Her black pinafore sticks up a bit in the front. The box is numbered 577, and as I found her from a local estate, I do not know if the box is original but appears that she has never left it. She is priced 5.95 on the box and in pencil and someone wrote on her leg in pencil as well- 5.95. This is a fabulous strung 1953 first year Madame Alexander-kins Doll. She is in beautiful minty condition with original blonde wig in original set, excellent high face coloring with brown brows, medium blue green eyes that open and close freely, black under lashes, bright pink cheeks with no scuffs or touch-ups and bright red lips. Her body is in excellent tightly strung condition. Alex is wearing her tagged Alice dress, organdy pinafore, Alex undies, excellent fuzzy bottom shoes with rayon socks. Dress is in excellent clean condition. Great 1953 Alex-kins which dont come around often with this wonderful coloring. Hair bow has been replaced. Comes from a smoke free home. A lovely redhead, this Maggie Mixup Alexander-kins bent knee walker doll has been in our family for many years as a member of a special aunt’s collection of treasured dolls. We are now finding homes for Ruth’s special dolls where they will be loved and cared for. Ruth now resides in a special memory care unit, and her precious dolls are now a great part of providing the unique care she needs. This little Maggie Mixup has always been stored in her box. Her hard plastic body of So-Lite plastic is eight inches tall and is jointed at the neck, shoulders, hips and knees. Her head turns as her legs move in a “walking” motion. Maggie’s pretty red saran hair is in the original set… Shoulder-length, straight, with bangs in front. Her hair is slightly flattened in the back from storage positioning. Her clear blue sleep eyes work properly, and her facial coloring is perfect. Noted was information that later dolls as Alexander-kins of the same face and name had different color eyes. Maggie’s clothing has never been removed. She is wearing a floral striped white dotted swiss dress with yellow flowers and green leaves. The sleeveless dress has a scooped neckline and is gathered at the waist. Green ric rac trims the neckline, armholes and hem of the dress, and he dress closes at the back bodice with two small snaps. A green satin ribbon accents the waist and ties in a bow in the back. Her panties match her dress and have an elastic waist and elastic legs. Short white knit socks, black velvet ankle strap Mary Janes, and a white wide-brimmed straw hat with yellow velvet flowers and green leaves complete Maggie’s ensemble. On the dress tag… Alexander-kins by Madame Alexander REG. Her Madame Alexander wrist tag was attached to her right wrist with a piece of light green ribbon. The hole on the back flap of the tag is torn, and the tag was positioned to hang. You can see this in the photos. I do not want to tear the hole any further making it impossible for you to reattach it. The label on the end of the box notes MAGGIE MIXUP 500 and has curled-up corners. There is a second label under this Maggie Mixup label. Under one corner I can read Little. I feel confident that this addition of a second label happened within Madame Alexander facilities.
